Brooke has loved horses for as long as she can remember. When she was growing up in Michigan her father, Bill, raised and raced thoroughbreds, so Brooke spent many a morning with her Dad at the track watching the horses workout, at Kentucky yearling auctions and around the foaling stall on long winter nights.

When she was old enough to ride she took lessons and was soon showing in County Fairs and 4-H Events. As a teen she and her sister showed on the AQHA circuit and rose to State and National prominence competing successfully in the Quarter Horse Congress and AQHA Youth World Championships. Brooke owned and showed several nationally ranked Quarter Horses including a World Champion.

Brooke, her sister Rhianna, and Bill formed the Horan Quarter Horse Company while the girls were still in high school. Brooke's Dad said it was "the perfect way to teach the girls about business, about ethics, and about life." They bought, conditioned, showed, and sold many horses over the years and learned the business inside out.

Since moving to Utah, Brooke teamed up with FEI trainer, Shelley Van den Neste and discovered the classical methods of training horses through Dressage training. She rode her first warmblood, a Hannoverian gelding Marquis de Matcho ('Paco') and immediately switched disciplines. She and Paco were soon showing in training level and winning high score awards throughout Utah and Colorado.

Re-discovering her passion for horses, she decided to mix pleasure and business and formed Vertu Sport Horses. Brooke says "everything I have ever learned about horses was just practice for what I am doing now...and I love every minute of it!"

Brooke resides in Park City, Utah with her (very supportive) husband and three boys.
